the Role

We are seeking a Senior Dam Safety Engineer to support and lead high-profile dam-safety, hydraulic structures, and risk-informed engineering projects in the Nashville region. This role supports a growing regional demand for dam-safety expertise, consistent with openings from major market players in the Nashville area, who emphasize geotechnical, hydraulic, and PFMA-related dam-safety competencies. You will contribute directly to some of the most complex and technically challenging dam-safety projects nationwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering assessments for dams, spillways, outlet works, and water-retaining structures, aligned with dam-safety industry standards.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses including 1D/2D modeling and advanced CFD studies for spillways and outlet works.
  • Conduct dam breach modeling, flood routing, paleo flood analysis, and inflow design flood development.
  • Support Potential Failure Mode Analyses (PFMAs) and large-scale dam inspections, mirroring expectations of Nashville-area employers.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams through design studies, safety investigations, and modification projects.
  • Prepare engineering reports, technical documentation, and risk-informed decision-support materials.
  • Participate in firmwide technical growth, training, and innovation initiatives, reflecting the company's emphasis on specialized, high-end technical capability.
Required Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil, Environmental, Hydraulic, or Water Resources Engineering.
  • 10+ years of dam-safety or hydraulic-structures engineering experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    Dam modification design, Spillway/outlet works design and analysis, CFD modeling workflows, 1D/2D hydrodynamic modeling, Breach modeling and inundation analysis, PFMA and risk assessments
  • Demonstrated capability in high-end, specialty technical environments
