SSD Delivery Finance team is responsible for last‑mile transportation spend across North America. Our finance teams partner closely with operations to influence the strategic direction of the business, drive operational excellence, and make sound investment and expansion decisions, with the primary goal of continuously improving the customer experience while driving long‑term profitability for our portfolio of businesses. Our teams experiment, fail fast, learn, and scale rapidly, while maintaining a data‑driven decision‑making culture.

The SSD Delivery Finance team seeks a Senior Financial Analyst. This role is responsible for reconciliation processes, developing and implementing process improvements, and leading financial analyses of major business events. The role partners closely with a broad range of finance and business leaders across tech and operations teams to design, develop, and maintain performance measurements and reports on strategic input drivers to continuously improve the economics of the business.

The successful candidate will partner with business owners, support decision‑making, and adapt to a rapidly‑evolving environment. They collaborate with seniors and various business units across Amazon, bring excellent verbal and written communication skills, and prioritize the most impactful projects and programs that will drive Amazon forward. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to innovate by building creative solutions with large‑scale data mining tools, identifying high‑priority work and projects that maximize results for key stakeholders, and solving complex problems that affect company‑wide strategic decisions.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Identify basic control risks, evaluate impact, propose changes and implement improvements to remediate gaps.
  • Deliver weekly/monthly financial close.
  • Use financial systems and advanced MS Excel functions to work with large data sets.
  • Work with a variety of data sources; identify incomplete or inaccurate data, determine root causes, escalated discrepancies, fix data where possible or partner to deliver a solution.
  • Communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjust style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly.
  • Identify and implement solutions to resolve, improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance processes.
  • Drive own self‑development in the Finance Community; participate in events, initiatives, and projects, and share gained knowledge within and outside the team.
  • Contribute to work‑life harmony by being a positive, collaborative, and effective influencer to new team members as an indicator of operations excellence.
Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience.
  • 3+ years of contributing to cross‑functional initiatives that drive financial performance and strategy.
  • Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in a team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results.
  • MBA or CPA.
  • Knowledge of Tableau.
  • Experience working with large‑scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
