Department of Agriculture, Davidson County The position is in Pesticides and is located on-site at the Tennessee Department of Agriculture's campus at the Ellington Agricultural Center in Nashville, TN. It is not a remote position.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to four years of full-time professional work in one or a combination of the following: forestry, plant, pesticides, weights and measures, food and dairy, laboratory or any other related agricultural or laboratory work that may be deemed by the agency.

Education:
Additional full-time professional experience in a field as listed above may substitute for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis up to a maximum of four years, there being no substitution for the required three years of specialized experience. - Substitution of Education for
Experience:
Graduate coursework credit received from an accredited college or university in forestry, plant, pesticides, weights and measures, food and dairy, laboratory or any other related agricultural or laboratory work may substitute for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis up to a maximum of one year (e.g., 36 graduate quarter hours in one or a combination of the above listed fields may substitute for one year of the required experience). - Necessary Special

Under general supervision, the employee is responsible for managing an agricultural program of average to considerable difficulty; performs related work as required. The employee in this class has management‑level responsibilities for an agricultural program that may include delivery or interpretation of policy and procedure for a region, central office reviewing or policy writing. This class differs from Agriculture Program Director 1 in that an incumbent of the latter directs a small to medium sized program.
Responsibilities- Assists in directing and coordinating agricultural programs such as inputs, pesticides, feed, seed and fertilizer programs or any other related agricultural program areas.
- Assigns, trains, supervises and evaluates assigned staff and their work; reviews and makes recommendations or employment, promotion, demotion, transfer and other human resources actions.
- Assists in development, implementation and monitoring of agricultural program policies and procedures.
- Assists in the study of organization, operations, and services and makes recommendations for improvements affecting economy, efficiency, and quality of organization, operations, and services.
