Our Patient Care segment is the largest owner and operator of O&P clinics nationwide.
Our clinic in Jackson, Tennessee, has been operating for over 30 years. You will work alongside a CO (Certified Orthotist) and Orthotic fitter to support patient care, serving a population spanning geriatrics to pediatrics. Travel may be required within a 70-mile radius and on-call rotations may apply. We fabricate on site with two technicians to assist with modifications and adjustments.
As a Prosthetist and/or Orthotist, you will contribute to improving patients’ lives through expert clinical care, innovative technologies, and collaborative practice within a network of nearly 1,600 providers across more than 900 clinics nationwide.
Your ImpactDepending on operational requirements and local regulations, your role may include some or all of the following functions:
- Collaborate with physicians in evaluating and analyzing a patient’s need for prosthetic and/or orthotic services; recommend treatment options when necessary.
- Examine and evaluate patient needs in relation to disease and functional loss.
- Formulate design of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
- Select materials, take casting measurements, model modifications, and layouts, considering new techniques and materials.
- Perform fitting, including static and dynamic alignments.
- Evaluate prosthetic and/or orthotic devices on patient, adjust for fit, function, medical efficacy, and quality of work.
- Instruct patients in the use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
- Identify and address issues to ensure patient satisfaction with devices provided.
- Provide follow-up with patients and physicians.
- Provide in-service training to physicians and allied health care professionals.
- Utilize effective materials management, quality and performance processes to maximize device quality and medical efficacy while balancing costs and operational performance.
- Meet with physicians, case managers and other referral sources to review services and capabilities; develop and enhance business relationships to secure ongoing referrals.
- Plan and implement strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets in coordination with management.
- Provide detailed clinical notes to patient records.
- Mentor residents or newly certified clinicians, if applicable.
- Assist other clinical staff and provide information to administrative staff for reimbursement activities.
- Adhere to safety regulations and comply with Medicare and other governmental regulations, including blood borne and OSHA requirements.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
- May be on-call, travel between clinic locations, or float as needed.
- Current board certification in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics from the American Board for Certification (ABC) or the Board of Certification (BOC), or
- A baccalaureate degree in prosthetics and/or orthotics or foreign equivalent, and current ABC Board-Eligibility in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics.
- A valid driver’s license and driving record meeting Hanger’s policy standards.
- In states where licensure is required, ability to obtain and maintain state licensure.
- May consider candidates certified in one discipline who wish to see patients in the other discipline while completing residency in the other discipline.
- May consider candidates who are not certified or board-eligible but have at least 5 years of demonstrated experience under supervision of a certified clinician.
- Understanding of biomechanics, pathomechanics, gait analysis, kinesiology, anatomy and physiology.
- Understanding of componentry for specific uses and its reliability.
- Strong medical terminology literacy and effective communication skills.
- Ability to instruct clinical and non-clinical personnel and customers on patient care objectives.
