The Mobile Unit Driver/Medical Office Assistant is responsible for preparing clinic materials and documentation for registration and assisting with the daily workflow. Responsible for driving and maintaining the Mobile Medical Unit on a daily basis. Ensures the safety of the vehicle and assists medical personnel during scheduled clinic sessions. What you will do- Establishes registration record and schedules patients for appointments in EPIC. Inputs registration demographic data.
- Verifies patient’s insurance information for coverage eligibility.
- Coordinates and participates in activities related to delivery and retrieval of patient consents records while maintaining privacy of protected health information in adherence with policies and procedures.
- Updates records as needed.
- Performs and assists with special projects and events for the Methodist Le Bonheur Community Outreach team.
- Performs hearing and vision testing, height and weight, as well as some point of care tests on patients.
- Ensures the mobile unit vehicle is properly loaded and effectively manages resources such as supplies and equipment. Maintains a clean, safe and organized work area.
- Plans work and completes job responsibilities in an efficient and productive manner.
- Performs maintenance checks on vehicle and medical equipment. Maintains a clean, safe and organized work area.
- Registers patients, including consents, immunization records, verification of insurance and prepares parental mail outs and educational materials for parents. Drives the mobile unit vehicle to and from each clinic site.
- Maintains daily logs and maintenance schedules.
- Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
- Required - High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Required - Driving a commercial vehicle 1-3 years
- Preferred - Front desk reception or customer service setting
- Required - Class B Commercial Driver License - Tennessee - Tennessee Motor Vehicle
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance.
- Demonstrates professional work behavior and excellent customer service routinely in all interactions.
- Ability to read, comprehend and explain moderately complex written material.
- Ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing with others.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and workflow for self and others as relates to both training and preparing clinic materials.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with clinicians, community partners, and other MLH Associates.
- Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgement.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as PCs, copy machines, and fax phones.
- Must be deemed insurable by MLH insurance carrier; MVR will be checked prior to transfer or employment.
- There is no lead or supervisory responsibilities assigned to this position.
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: heavy work - exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- The Associate may be required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.).
