Job Title

Purpose:

Purchase required materials, components, parts, etc. to ensure quality products available to maintain production schedules and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Proficient at all Purchasing Assistant and Buyer I responsibilities.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure high-quality products at competitive prices with timely deliveries.
  • Track, review, and analyze purchasing costs, terms, and conditions to optimize expenditures.
  • Maintain supplier relationships, monitor performance, and resolve any issues related to supply chain disruptions or quality.
  • Develop collaborative/partnering relationships with key suppliers to promote processes that will reduce lead times, decrease costs, and ensure product and service quality improvement including vendor managed inventories (VMI), electronic data transfer or Internet ordering.
  • Implement actions resulting in cost savings and vendor reductions.
  • Determine optimal methods of procurement such as direct purchase, bid, supplier-managed inventory, make-for-hold, etc. in order to support organization and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate quality matters and engineering changes or developments between the company and suppliers.
  • Analyze market trends to support optimal purchasing decisions.
  • Manage inventory levels in line with customer needs and annual targets.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and document all processes for AS9100. (UK Only)
Requirements
  • Must meet Purchasing Assistant and Buyer I requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Four (4) to eight (8) years of experience in purchasing/procurement or equivalent of education and experience.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability and confidence to prepare and execute supplier contract negotiations.
