SUMMARY
The Carlstar Group Tire Builder is an hourly position responsible for continuous performance of assembling tires according to assigned specifications. The successful candidate will be committed to safety, good housekeeping, and a willingness to learn. The Tire Builder Position is a tiered position based on advancement of skill, knowledge, and ability to build quality tires, maintain all safety parameters associated with the tire building process, low scrap count, and consistently meet incentive rate set for each machine and SKU.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate tire assembly machine applying components in sequential order by specification within standard process time.
- Position tires (up to 50 lbs.) on rack.
- Positions ply stitcher rollers and drums according to width of stock, using hand tools and gauges.
- Pulls plies from supply racks, and aligns plies with edges of drums
- Maintain housekeeping the Tire Building Area
- Eager to be a Team Player and open to be assigned other duties, as needed.
- Successfully and safely perform all duties associated with the Tire Builder position, process, machines, etc.
- Perform required quality checks associated with building tires.
- Demonstrate the use of the Tire Building Verification Form
- Identify components used in assembling a green tire.
- Inspect tires to identify non-conformances (i.e. no sticker, defects, poor workmanship)
- Operate overhead hoists and all other equipment needed to successfully perform the duties of the job.
- Complete machine changeovers and simple maintenance tasks, as needed.
- Measure angles, widths, and lengths using measurement instruments.
- Interface with various computer systems to report production defects and scrap.
- Maintain hour-by-hour reporting.
- Signal the delivery of component materials to the work cell.
- Detect and report faulty operations, defects, and/or unusual material conditions.
The employee should hold the following abilities:

- Apply common sense to carrying out instructions and procedures
- Use problem-solving skills to deal with issues in process as they arise
The employee should have the following:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
- Applicants seeking GED:
Enroll in our program to help you get a GED while working - Manufacturing experience preferred but not required, candidate will be trained for this position in-house
- Basic math skills a must: measurements (tape measure, gauge, protractor), division, adding, subtracting, etc.

The employee should possess the ability to:
- Work safely around continuous moving mechanical parts
- Work in a hot environment while meeting production rates
- Be exposed to a noisy environment and comfortable with PPE requirements
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality for 8-12 hour shifts
- Be comfortable standing, stooping, leaning, and working around rotating equipment
- Be comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs
- May require forklift certification.
