Responsibilities
- Report to Plant Director.
- Manage plant Technical Resources; maintain equipment and processes appropriately; staff Departments effectively.
- Meet operational goals and objectives; meet product cost targets; meet product quality objectives; meet safety goals and objectives.
- Work with Scheduling to schedule PM’s and necessary work to be completed.
- Work with Production Supervisors on training programs.
- Direct Maintenance / Tooling / Automation Supervisors in relation to production equipment and costs.
- Prepare and maintain budget goal.
- Identify processes and create programs that will reduce costs, reduce scrap and rework, and keep overall product costs highly competitive.
- Solicit ideas and feedback from employees by creating a high level of engagement without compromising effective systems or authority.
- Reduce manufacturing, production, quality and on‑time delivery variables by implementing a high degree of process control.
- Manage Supervisors who oversee the day‑to‑day Plant Technical Resources.
- Handle employee relation issues.
- Serve as a qualified back‑up to the Production Manager.
- P & L responsible for machine uptime and efficiencies.
- Follow and comply to Safety & Quality Absolutes.
- Follow all ISO 9001, ASI‑Food Safety, ISO 15378 requirements.
- Follow all regulatory laws and guidelines.
- Any other duties as assigned.
- Support the accomplishment of your work groups through quality, timeliness and professionalism of your attitude.
- Supply accurate and timely data as required by performance tracking and reporting.
- Apply resources in a manner that maximizes their effectiveness while assuring quality.
- Maintain a work environment that will contribute to the assurance of safety and GMP compliance.
- Adhere to established procedures, perform self‑checking and pay attention to detail in the performance of you and your team’s work.
- Notify management in a timely manner of any problems with procedural compliance.
- Report observed quality problems and deficiencies in a timely manner.
- Make recommendations to management for improving the quality and efficiency of your work.
- Oversee work to ensure projects are completed.
- Frontline Leader Responsibilities:
Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations. - Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
- Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
- Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate or reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
- Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre‑shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.).
- Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
- Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
- Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
- Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback.
- Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) with eight to ten years related experience and/or completion of apprenticeship program holding a Journeyman certificate for technical trades.
- Knowledge of complex, multi‑step manufacturing processes is a must.
- A background in a strong process‑controlled, sophisticated, structured, manufacturing management environment evidenced by knowledge of rigorous management systems.
- Strong working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and building support systems.
- Experience in INJ / SBM / EBM / IBM / RHB / plastics manufacturing.
- Present a positive and professional attitude at all times while interfacing with all relevant parties.
