Job Summary

The Plant Manager has responsibility for driving continuous and significant improvements in safety, quality, delivery and cost. To be a significant contributor in a growing and profitable organization with an emerging passion to transform itself into a lean operating company through the implementation of lean management practices, and the development of a strong and talented organization all focused on performing at world‑class levels and creating superior value.

Job Responsibilities
  • Drive rapid, significant and sustainable improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Provide the leadership necessary for the development and execution of a strategy that supports the company’s overall strategy in a continuous process manufacturing environment.
  • Lead regular key performance indicator (KPI) reviews for the plant team to ensure attainment of results and a sense of urgency with respect to implementation priorities.
  • Ensure key manufacturing metrics and KPI systems are consistently tracking the appropriate measures and provoking appropriate responsive behavior.
  • Passionately drive a lean operating system mentality and culture in a highly structured and prescriptive way, leading the development and implementation of the roadmap to achieve breakthrough operating performance (5S, SMED, TPM, 5W1H, etc.).
  • Build, coach and mentor an outstanding team.
  • Continually evolve manufacturing efficiency and assess opportunities to reduce cost by driving financial performance in the areas of direct and indirect labor, manufacturing overhead cost, and inventory levels.
  • Ensure effective allocation of resources across all areas of the plant to accomplish customer‑driven priorities.
  • Coordinate effectively with sales, marketing, design engineering, and other functional organizations.
  • Partner with the broader management team to ensure the best possible product and customer satisfaction.
  • Continually benchmark best practices and drive effective implementation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is required. An MBA is preferred with 10 years of manufacturing experience and at least 5 years of managerial experience.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Possesses a high sense of urgency.
  • Resourcefulness, combining strong manufacturing and technical abilities with good overall management acumen.
  • Effectively deploys resources to key priorities.
  • High expectations for self and organization; driven by metrics and countermeasures.
  • Lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience is a plus.
  • Team player – respect and work with team members, respect their thoughts and knowledge of each instance; be good‑natured and have a cooperative attitude.
  • Initiative/persistent – willing to take on responsibilities and challenges; persistent when faced with obstacles.
  • Critical thinking – using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Active listening – give full attention to what others are saying, take time to understand the points being made, and respond appropriately.
