Manufacturing Supervisor

I. General Summary: The Manufacturing Supervisor directs Team Leaders and other Team Members in assigned manufacturing areas (e.g., assembly, filter, injection molding, powertrain, stamping, urethane, welding, kaizen, etc.) to execute the group's responsibilities. This role manages the group (manufacturing line, cells, or area) as an operational unit, responsible for achieving company goals and targets in accordance with all company policies, manufacturing standards, methods, and quality standards.

Key focus areas include safety, product quality, customer satisfaction, accuracy, productivity, cost reduction, housekeeping, eAiciency, training, teamwork, and morale.

II. Essential Job Functions:

• Function as a first-line supervisor over team leaders and team members.
• Plan and coordinate the hiring and placement of team members with the Assistant Manager.
• Monitor staAing conditions, work hours, overtime, job rotation, and absenteeism.
• Ensure consistent compliance with all company rules, policies, and practices.
• Manage and appraise team member job performance and recommend corrective action.
• Develop and maintain positive team member relations.
• Provide direction and motivation to team members emphasizing safety, quality, eAiciency, productivity, cost reduction, and morale.

Manufacturing and Production:

• Lead and maintain the manufacturing and production system of the assigned area.
• Utilize Toyota Production System (TPS) techniques to standardize processes, reduce variation, and eliminate waste.
• Develop standardized work procedures and direct the work of Team Leaders and Team Members.
• Perform essential job functions of team leaders or team members as necessary.
• Conduct time studies and other analyses to identify performance gaps and develop countermeasures.
• Lead program launches and train team members on new equipment and processes.

Quality and Efficiency:

• Monitor the flow of parts, materials, productivity, and quality.
• Ensure quality goals and standards are met and use quality feedback loops and systems.
• Partner with the Quality department to initiate investigation and containment activities.
• Troubleshoot daily quality, safety, and production issues.
• Evaluate and analyze problems involving machinery and equipment and coordinate repairs.

Continuous Improvement:

• Participate in setting Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets.
• Maintain and update department KPI boards and initiate continuous improvement activities.
• Lead safety, quality, productivity, and cost improvement projects.
• Implement team members' ideas and management-directed initiatives.

Safety:

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company safety policies.
• Lead ergonomic assessments and implement countermeasures.
• Maintain knowledge of procedures concerning Hazardous Waste, Spill Response, and Plant Security.
• Monitor the safety and health of team members.

Training and Development:

• Train and coach team members to maintain productivity and quality standards.
• Oversee all training of team members and assign trainers as needed.
• Maintain training matrices and ensure eAective training.
• Develop team members through performance evaluation, training plans, feedback, and coaching.

Documentation and Communication:

• Collect, record, analyze information and maintain documentation.
• Prepare business reports and spreadsheets.
• Maintain records of department activities.
• Communicate frequently with internal contacts on various issues.

III. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

• Associate's degree in business, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant manufacturing experience required.
• Minimum two (2) years of previous leadership or supervisory experience required.
• Automotive industry experience preferred.
