Shift Team Lead
Location:
Jackson, TN
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and manufacturing experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to guide and support a team
- Good problem‑solving skills and ability to address issues quickly and effectively
- Basic computer skills (data entry, reporting, production tracking systems) preferred
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow written and verbal instructions, safety rules, and procedures
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to write reports and speak effectively in team settings
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, percentages)
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physically active work for extended periods
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., as needed
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying conditions
- Forklift experience a plus
- Ensure all work areas are safe and that associates follow safety procedures at all times
- Oversee the shift in the absence of the Supervisor and support daily production activities
- Assign team members to specific work areas to maximize productivity
- Ensure work is performed according to manufacturing and quality procedures
- Monitor production flow and ensure schedule requirements are met
- Track and ensure accurate reporting of scrap, downtime, and production data
- Verify all work orders are picked, scanned, and production reports are completed at the end of each shift
- Ensure supplies and components are properly requisitioned to avoid workflow interruptions
- Oversee inspection of final assemblies and ensure proper documentation is completed
- Maintain and update Gemba boards and other visual management tools
- Ensure all associates are trained on required operations within the department
- Lead or support daily toolbox talks and team meetings as needed
- Communicate with other shift leaders to address production, quality, or safety concerns
- Identify and support resolution of quality issues, process improvements, and scrap reduction efforts
- Ensure non-conforming materials are properly identified and handled
- Coordinate 5S and housekeeping efforts to maintain an organized work environment
- Submit maintenance requests to support safe and efficient operations
- Report safety, quality, production, or personnel issues to the appropriate supervisor or manager
- Assist other departments as needed, including forklift operations when required
