Overview

Printpack, an essential and leading manufacturer of flexible packaging, is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Shift Supervisor – Blown Film for a 7p-7a 2/3 rotating night shift. This position is located in the Jackson, TN, plant and will report to the Blown Films Department Manager.

Minimum and

Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • Hands‑on supervisory experience within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
  • Blown or cast extrusion experience preferred
  • Continuous process experience preferred
  • Must have strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage change and multiple objectives simultaneously
  • Ability to effectively communicate with associates at all levels of the organization
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Office 365 and Outlook
  • Knowledge of a manufacturing ERP system is preferred
  • Excellent work history and attendance record
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to work any shift as needed
Key Responsibilities:

Safety
  • Responsible for the direct management and enforcement of all OSHA and Printpack environmental, health and safety policies and procedures on the shift.
  • Lead monthly shift safety meetings, coordinating with EHS on the monthly topic to be covered and training materials.
  • Perform monthly Behavior‑Based Safety Observation (BBSO) audits and work with the EHS coordinator to ensure 100% monthly safety engagement for associates on the shift.
  • Assure that a clean and safe working environment is maintained at all times.
  • Investigate and prepare reports on safety incidents—near‑misses, hazard identification, and accidents.
  • Make on‑the‑spot corrections of intentional or unintentional violations by associates of health and safety rules, initiate and document corrective or disciplinary actions.
  • Read and understand all assigned policies, operating procedures manual (OPM), and work instructions (WIs) relative to safety.
Key Responsibilities:

Quality
  • Responsible for monitoring all aspects of production activities performed during the shift, with careful attention to productivity, quality, and on‑time delivery.
  • Ensure products are made within customer specifications and inspect finished products to ensure quality.
  • Work closely with associates to develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality to reduce and prevent customer complaints.
  • Ensure associates operate processes within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality procedures.
Process / Personnel
  • Responsible for creating a positive, engaged, and inclusive work environment, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, and developing the team to ensure company goals are achieved.
  • Ensure that all individuals within assigned departments have a clear understanding of their responsibilities and are properly trained on procedures relating to safety, quality, and process control.
  • Identify training and developmental needs of associates and coach, mentor, and motivate them to be successful.
  • Evaluate individual team members' performance, provide regular feedback, and complete quarterly and annual written performance reviews for all associates.
  • Identify and resolve production issues efficiently and timely, and assist in the resolution of production problems.
  • Communicate daily production goals and expectations to operators on shift, document, and report production results required.
  • Conduct monthly team meetings to communicate safety, quality, and production changes and goals.
  • Work closely with other production supervisors, lead operators, support groups, and management to ensure consistency across shifts.
  • Promote an effective team‑oriented environment and foster communication between floor associates and Plant Management to identify safety issues, improvements in working conditions, and methods to increase production and quality.
  • Manage shift administrative activities, including time/absence reporting, attendance monitoring, vacation planning, time‑off requests, and overtime.
  • Perform inventory control through cycle counts and manage in‑plant material movement.
