Position: Electrical and Instrumentation Technician (E&I - Nights)

$40.98 PER HOUR PLUS $2.00 PER HOUR SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL Night

Shift: 6:30pm – 7:00am
Rotating 2-2-3 schedule

Overview

Electrical & Instrumentation Technician (Nights) – responsible for the manufacture of consumer foods that meet all food safety, quality and regulatory requirements while supporting the plant’s electrical, instrumentation, controls and automation systems.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation equipment and software.
  • Operate and troubleshoot Power Distribution, Studio
    5000 or Logix
    5000 platform hardware and software, Drives and Motion Control, Factory Talk ME & SE Ethernet/IP Control Network, Food Manufacturing and Utility Instrumentation.
  • Use drawings, prints and instruction manuals to determine proper steps for equipment preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs; adhere to company drawing and documentation standards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities and work orders promptly to maximize equipment performance.
  • Improve and modify preventative maintenance activities as appropriate.
  • Coach other team members on electrical, instrumentation and controls skills, machine functionality, defect identification and resolution, and equipment repair.
  • Participate in training and qualification programs, ensuring effective training and consistent qualification standards.
  • Use continuous improvement tools, including breakdown elimination, to document, communicate and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Own one or more technical, safety or quality systems; build technician skills and provide ongoing coaching.
  • Create documentation as needed (SOPs, Job Aids, PM Improvements, etc.).
  • Attend technical training sessions, vendor visits and scheduled maintenance activities; attain expertise in advanced E&I technology.
  • Maintain accurate electronic database of repair and maintenance activities, including parts usage and time tracking.
  • Assist in maintaining and developing plant drawings and documentation.
  • Facilitate effective shift pass‑downs with prior/next shift to discuss safety, quality and production issues.
  • Lead projects to improve safety, quality or production results in a designated area.
  • Assist fellow employees as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with electrical systems, PLC, motor and motion controls, SCADA, instrumentation equipment for manufacturing.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed.
  • Ability to read and follow safety policies, SOPs, GMPs and general instructions.
  • Working knowledge of general electrical safety, electrical schematics, power distribution, controls, motor controls, PLC logic controls, HMIs and other industrial controls.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to give and receive feedback.
  • Leadership and prioritization skills in a designated equipment area.
  • Ability to set and meet goals and manage workload in a changing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Data‑driven decision making and engagement with others as appropriate.
  • Basic mathematical, statistical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent computer skills; ability to learn company‑specific computer systems.
  • Desire to work in a constantly changing, progressive environment.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds, stand, sit, walk, enter confined spaces, push, pull, kneel, squat, climb, and perform repetitive actions.
Additional Skills and Experience
  • Associate’s or technical degree or training.
  • Previous mechanical/maintenance experience.
  • Previous food manufacturing experience.
