CNC Machine Operator - Jackson

Job Description

As a CNC machine operator, you will read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.

• Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
• Position workpiece against stops or align layout marks with die or blade.
• Push buttons or depress pedal to activate machine.
• Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
• Measure workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
• Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpiece with powered hand tools.
• Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces; perform minor program changes, properly save and check them.
• Set up machine and stack, mark, pack, and transport finished work pieces.
• Rivet and/or spot weld work pieces.

• High school graduate or GED.
• 1+ year of assembly experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Must possess the ability to use tools and equipment needed to perform the job.
• Must have good listening and communication skills.
• Able to work well with others as a team player.

• Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
• Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
• Secure materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
• Attach identifying tags or labels to materials or mark information containers.
• Make simple adjustments and perform routine preventive maintenance.
• Assemble crates or boxes to contain products such as machines or vehicles.
• Clean work area, spillage, and equipment as required.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Frequently required to walk. Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and frequently lift and move up to 30 pounds. Must have good vision for close work.
