About the Role

Marine Components is seeking a detail-oriented Marine Seating CAD/CAM Technician to support the design, development, and manufacturing of marine seating, upholstery, and interior components.

This position serves as a key link between Engineering, Production, Product Development, and Manufacturing by creating and maintaining CAD models, production drawings, CNC files, patterns, tooling documentation, and manufacturing support materials. The ideal candidate enjoys both technical design work and hands-on collaboration with manufacturing teams to bring innovative seating products from concept to production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain 2D and 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and engineering documentation for marine seating and upholstery products.
  • Develop manufacturing drawings and production documentation for seating frames, foam components, upholstery patterns, and interior assemblies.
  • Generate CAM files and machine-ready data used in CNC cutting, routing, tooling, pattern development, and manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product Development, and Production teams to support new product launches and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support prototype, sample, and production builds by ensuring design documentation and manufacturing information are accurate and complete.
  • Create and maintain bills of material, engineering drawings, specifications, and revision-controlled documentation.
  • Verify models, drawings, dimensions, fit-ups, and stack-ups for accuracy and compliance with company standards.
  • Work from sketches, scanned images, physical samples, patterns, customer prints, and concept drawings to develop production-ready designs.
  • Assist in the design and development of tooling, fixtures, templates, and manufacturing aids.
  • Investigate design and manufacturing challenges and help identify practical solutions that improve quality, efficiency, safety, and manufacturability.
  • Support production teams by responding to engineering change requests and manufacturing needs in a timely manner.
  • Maintain organized CAD databases, files, revisions, and engineering records.
  • Participate in design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product quality and manufacturability.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts focused on reducing waste, improving efficiency, and enhancing product quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, CAD Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience creating and modifying 2D and 3D CAD models and production drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
  • Experience with marine, automotive, RV, furniture, upholstery, or seating manufacturing.
  • Experience with CNC cutting systems, routers, nesting software, or CAM programming.
  • Experience working with upholstery patterns, sewn products, foam products, composites, or interior assemblies.
  • Familiarity with bills of material, engineering change management, and production support processes.
  • Experience interpreting manufacturing drawings and specifications.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
