Position is based in the Nashville, TN office, with hybrid and flexible scheduling allowed. Position will require in-person participation with staff and members across Tennessee, estimated once per month depending on opportunity and need.

Since 1990, the TN Disability Coalition has worked to create a society that values, supports and includes people with disabilities. We are a passionate, mission-driven team of professionals. Position Overview
The Member Engagement Coordinator will be a connector between our organization and our members. Our 40+ member organizations range from the Alzheimer’s Association to GiGi’s Play House to T.A.R.P. Center for Independent Living – they span across the state, across diagnosis, age and background. Some members are policy experts in their own right. Some just want to be kept informed. This role will be a relationship builder.
They will get to know our members and their constituents, learn their priorities and how policy or systems changes can enhance their access, inclusion and overall quality of life. This role will work on the Tennessee Disability Coalition Policy Team and collaborate with the Community & Family Engagement Team to support member engagement in our work.
- Recruit, retain and strengthen relationships with Tennessee Disability Coalition members
- Work with the Policy Team and Community & Family Engagement Team to advance our strategic and programmatic goals and advocacy efforts
- Assist in policy and advocacy content and resource development and dissemination
- Develop and conduct campaigns to foster two-way communications between the Tennessee Disability Coalition and its members and networking amongst the membership
- Seek to understand the policy and programmatic concerns and goals of our members and analyze trends
- Lead training and related programming to build policy knowledge and advocacy capacity of members and disability community
- Disseminate information, track and coordinate member and advocate engagement in our campaigns
- Support membership events including semi-annual membership meetings
- Recruit and support member engagement in policy and advocacy efforts, including through year-round programming and our annual Disability Day on the Hill events
- Represent the Tennessee Disability Coalition and our policy positions with various audiences, including state government, partners, community events and the broader public
Qualifications
- Lived experience with disability and alignment with the mission of the organization
- Strong relationship management skills and ability to work well with individuals of diverse backgrounds and cultural traditions
- Effective communication skills, including public speaking and an ability to present complex issues or materials to non-specialists
- Strong work ethic matched by openness to feedback and collaboration
- Ability to provide task leadership
- Must be comfortable and knowledgeable using a computer, database and work-related technologies
- Must be comfortable traveling regularly to be in-person with staff and members across the state, approximately once per month, or as needed
The TN Disability Coalition covers 100% of the premiums for full-time employees to enroll in one of two employer-sponsored health plans, a dental plan, basic life policy and short-term disability policy.
