What You'll Do

Job Summary: Responsibility for conducting audits of processes and procedures related to Quality and Waste Reduction. Assists in the implementation and administration of quality control programs and monitors waste assessment initiatives as developed by the Quality Services Director. Conducts various research and development tasks to ensure continued quality improvement. Acts as an information source when special or critical Quality Services issues occur.

Duties
  • Monitors programs designed to maintain/improve product quality.
  • Inspects books at various stages of the production process and compiles audit findings to determine compliance with standards, policies, processes and procedures.
  • Performs 28 Quality checklist items required on a per shift basis.
  • Conducts 100% inspections at all phases of the manufacturing process on replacement orders when requested.
  • Recommends modifications and improvements to systems and procedures.
  • Assists in the evaluation and resolution of quality, waste and manufacturing issues.
  • Helps coordinate ongoing quality improvements within LSI's manufacturing process.
  • Provides recommendations to QS Training Specialists on training needs.
  • Assists with the monitoring of waste streams in manufacturing process including daily input into waste collection spreadsheets.
  • Compiles and analyzes statistical data as part of root cause analysis to determine cause and origin of waste.
  • Assists with the evaluation of equipment performance as it relates to utilization of equipment and materials.
  • Helps develop and implement projects designed to reduce waste of materials and/or time.
  • Conducts quality‑related presentations during monthly Safety and Quality Huddles and New Hire Onboarding when requested.
  • Acts as a back up for other Quality Services Specialists.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Basic/Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 6–12 months printing‑related experience, in a book manufacturing setting.
Essential Physical Demands
  • Ability to walk and stand continuously during the assigned shift.
  • Ability to lift/carry in full range of motion up to 50 lbs. during the assigned shift – 1–25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to push/pull in a manufacturing environment up to 50 lbs to push during the assigned shift – up to 40 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to grip/grasp continuously during the assigned shift.
  • Ability to bend, kneel/squat, twist/turn, reach above shoulder, and type/keyboard frequently during the assigned shift.
  • Ability to work designated 12 hour shift including overtime as required.
  • Exposure to wide range of temperatures.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, hear, see, think, communicate, concentrate, learn, and work.
  • Ability to sit at workstation for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work effectively using a personal computer for long periods of time.

Current Shift

Wednesday through Friday: 7 pm to 7 am and every other Saturday.
