Store T Gift Shop Sales Associate at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital

Position Summary

The Sales Associate is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, supporting store goals, maintaining a clean store, handling cash transactions, and building positive relationships with hospital contacts and volunteers.

• Ability to work evenings and weekends

Monday – Friday: 7:00 am – 8:00 pm
Saturday – Sunday: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm

• Provide exceptional customer service to every customer who enters the gift shop, greet them upon entry, thank them for their purchase, and invite them to return.

• Meet store performance objectives and daily/m​onthly sales goals.
• Follow corporate and store‑manager directions for supporting events.
• Clock in and out according to the scheduled shift to keep store hours within budget.

• Maintain a clean and attractive store environment.
• Dust shelves, remove trash from the floor, clean spots, organize items, and meet corporate cleanliness standards.
• Follow infection‑prevention cleanliness requirements and schedule.

• Handle personal cash responsibly and count the register drawer at each shift start.
• During shift changes, count the drawer in the presence of the incoming employee or store manager.
• Adhere to company policies for accepting various payment methods.
• Record cash overages or shortages and notify the store manager immediately for unexplained differences over $10.

• Follow hospital and Cloverkey policies on appearance, attendance, and customer service.
• Performance is evaluated individually and as a team, covering sales, operations knowledge, schedule adherence, customer service, hospital policy compliance, and overall attitude.

• Demonstrate knowledge of the hospital contact and the importance of maintaining a good relationship.
• Respect and understand the role of volunteers in the hospital and the gift shop.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred:
  Previous experience in gift sales or a related field.

• Stand for long periods of time.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport.
• Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
• Basic math skills for processing transactions.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and juggle multiple tasks.
• Strong sales skills with the ability to upsell and cross‑sell.
• Effective time‑management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

• Primarily inside climate‑controlled buildings.

• Self‑paced, requiring speed and accuracy in a demanding work area.
