HVAC Technician Helper

Position Overview

An HVAC Technician Helper will work alongside HVAC service technicians to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial HVAC equipment. The role requires hands‑on experience with a variety of commercial systems and a commitment to safety and teamwork.

• Assist with performing assigned HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting tasks safely in commercial and industrial settings on various types of split systems, packaged rooftop units, heat pumps, DX systems, pneumatic and electrical control systems, and other mechanical equipment.
• Assist with preventative maintenance tasks and repair of commercial HVAC equipment as needed.
• Assist with diagnosing causes of breakdowns, testing parts with appropriate instruments, disassembling and assembling parts, and making necessary repairs to equipment and associated components.
• Use HVAC skills and experience to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain medium‑to‑large complex heating and cooling systems and associated control systems.
• Utilize electrical and mechanical diagnostic tools to maintain systems.
• Complete required electronic documentation daily on a handheld device.
• Work independently and as part of a team to complete assigned tasks within an allotted time frame.
• Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One or more years’ experience performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting tasks on commercial mechanical equipment preferred.
• EPA universal certification preferred.
• OSHA 10‑hour certification preferred.

• Maintain a positive, cooperative, and teachable attitude.
• Require basic mechanical aptitude, mathematics, and English language skills.
• Comply with and promote the company Safety Policy Initiative; be self‑motivated and a self‑starter.
• Regular and punctual attendance.
• Ability to work overtime if needed (and approved).
• Ability to stand, squat, bend, stoop, and comfortably lift up to 50lb.
• Ability to pass a full background screening, drug screening, and an MVR check (if applicable) or possess reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a physical ability test.
• Ability to travel as needed for projects.
