QualificationsEducation and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in special education, education, rehabilitation or therapeutic health, nursing, sociology, social work, or any behavioral science field and experience equivalent to two years of working with persons with disabilities, aging, and/or mental health work.

Additional graduate coursework in special education, rehabilitation or therapeutic health, nursing, sociology, social work, or any behavioral science field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. - Substitution of Experience for
Education:
Qualifying professional intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, aging, or mental health work may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. - Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to three years of working with persons with disabilities, aging, and/or mental health work. - Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and completion of an internship with the Department of Disability and Aging.
Experience can substitute for degree.
Necessary Special Qualifications- Complete a background check in a manner approved by the appointing authority.
- Some positions may require a valid driver’s license.
- A Certified Work Incentives Coordinator (CWIC), Community Partner Work Incentives Counselor (CPWIC), or Certified Work Incentive Practitioner (WIP-C) Certification may be required for some positions.
The Department of Disability and Aging (DDA) is hiring an IDD Program Specialist 3 to work with the Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) Unit in the Quality Management Division. The candidate will assess quality of services and compliance with federal regulations for private ICF homes in the West Region.
This highly motivated individual requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with staff in private agencies and explain regulatory processes.
Surveyors are required to travel within their assigned region, including driving to and from provider agencies, and occasional travel across the state to assist other members of the team. A flex schedule is utilized for the team, which may require longer workdays in which the time worked beyond the standard workday is flexed out later in the week. Surveyors are off state holidays and weekends.
Responsibilities- Observations of services at provider agencies.
- Interview provider staff and individuals.
- Review documentation and ensure quality service standards are met for recertification of services.
- Write Federal Reports.
- Investigate complaints.
- Educate individuals regarding required quality metrics of services.
- Assist in development of quality improvement plans.
