Dance Instructor
A dance instructor with the Jackson Parks and Recreation is responsible for teaching assigned weekly classes, choreographing recital routines, and following an agreed upon curriculum that meets pre-set goals for assigned classes. Instructors should cultivate a positive and welcoming atmosphere between all students, parents, and staff members. This position reports to the Parks and Recreation Youth Recreation Supervisor. Applications shall be directed to the attention of Beth Mac Donald.
· Preparing class curriculum and participant goals prior to start date of program
· Adjusting and preparing a weekly lesson plan
· Taking attendance of participants
· Teaching a variety of youth participants at weekly classes
· Plans and coordinates with Youth Recreation Supervisor for recitals
· Attend any meetings as required by Youth Recreation Supervisor or Parks and Recreation Director
· Other relevant duties as assigned
· Background in dance or dance education
· Teaching experience is preferred
· First Aid/CPR certification is preferred
· Friendly and welcoming personality
· Ability to manage a classroom of students
· Ability to adapt to all ages, levels, and abilities
· Knowledge of dance techniques and styles
· Great work ethic including integrity, self-motivation, and passion for working with kids
· Organizational and time-management skills
