The McKinley Die Cutter is responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform general preventive maintenance on assigned die cut machine. Reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards is a must. The operator oversees the printing and/or die-cutting of quality products in a safe and efficient manner. The operator is responsible for knowing how to perform all the specific job duties associated with operator and assistant positions.
Being a team player is essential since all tasks will require close collaboration with co-workers. The goal will be to ensure that production procedures will be carried on smoothly to maximize efficiency and profits. Experience working with corrugated packaging equipment is a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General knowledge and understanding of rotary die cutting processes and equipment
Read, understand and follow job tickets to determine setup specifications and instructions
Set-up print and die-cut sections of die cutters in accordance with proper setup techniques
Inspect and and ensure that all bolts, cutting dies, and anilox rolls are in good condition and tightly in place
Stop or reset machine when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a supervisor
Regulate machine flow, speed, or temperature, dimension, pressure, register settings
Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material
Adjust machine components and machine tension and pressure according to size or processing angle of product
Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations
Set up machine from job to job – based on McKinley RDC operational proficiencies
Properly and successfully interact with packers
Understands Lock-out/Tag-out procedures required for opening and closing McKinley RDCRecord all necessary information on the Supply One QAR (Quality Assurance Report)
Follow instructions accurately
Meet customers’ requirements for printing, slotting, and scoring
Understand and follows First Box Inspection Process Ability and knowledge to understand and use printing plates, ink system, and die boards
Understands all safety procedures and precautions to ensure protections of personnel doing repairs and machine cleaning – including donning of PPE and replacing and rotating blankets.
Ensuring production floor, machine area, is clean, accessible, and safe.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and safely. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Minimum (2) years operating and performing preventative, minor, and major maintenance on a rotary die cutter or equivalent experience
Prior work experience in the corrugated industry is a plus
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Experience running corrugated board on flatbed die cutters preferred
Knowledge of rotary die cutting equipment preferred
Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions
Ability to use specific computer software to enter and utilize information in our computer business systems
Possess good verbal and written communication skills
Must have the ability to perform basic mathematics including additions, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Must have demonstrated mechanical aptitude through prior work experience
Must have the ability to be flexible, proactive, meticulous, and autonomous
Demonstrates ability to use tools necessary to maintain the RDCDemonstrates ability to recognize common packaging defects to ensure quality
Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods
Ability to work independently and as a team player in a team-oriented environment.
Assist other areas as needed to maintain a team approach
Ability to effectively manage time and meet set targets and deadlines
