Mountain Academy is the K–8 independent school within Teton Science Schools. We seek passionate, reflective Teachers (K–2 and 3–5) to join our multi-age, skill-based classrooms. These positions are ideal for educators who are energized by collaboration, innovation, and purpose-driven learning.

Position Overview

Elementary Teachers at Mountain Academy design and facilitate engaging, developmentally responsive learning experiences within K–2 or 3–5 multi-age classroom bands. Teachers balance strong academic instruction with authentic connections to local ecology, economy, and culture, creating learning environments where students feel safe to take intellectual risks, learn from mistakes, and develop agency and curiosity.

This role offers meaningful opportunities for professional growth, leadership, and collaboration within a supportive independent school community.

Key Responsibilities Classroom Culture & Student Experience
  • Create inclusive, engaging classroom environments where students feel known, valued, and challenged
  • Foster curiosity, communication, collaboration, and action through inquiry-based and place-based learning
  • Implement developmentally appropriate classroom management practices that promote respect and focus
  • Provide consistent, meaningful feedback to support academic and social growth
  • Model calm, reflective, and professional behavior in all interactions
Curriculum & Instruction
  • Design and implement lessons aligned to Mountain Academy priority standards
  • Teach in a multi-age classroom using flexible, skill-based groupings
  • Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and monitor student progress
  • Connect learning to real-world contexts, including local ecology, economy, and culture
  • Engage students in critical thinking, creativity, and multiple modes of expression
  • Reflect on and revise instruction to ensure learning remains purposeful and effective
  • Integrate current educational research and innovative instructional practices
Communication & Professional Responsibilities
  • Communicate clearly, empathetically, and consistently with students, families, and colleagues
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Mountain Academy and Teton Science Schools
  • Uphold school values and contribute positively to the broader TSS community
  • Demonstrate professionalism through preparation, organization, reliability, and engagement
  • Seek solutions through challenges and remain accountable for growth

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required;
    Master’s degree and teaching credential preferred
  • Experience teaching elementary-aged students (multi-age experience preferred)
  • Strong understanding of child development and differentiated instruction
  • Interest in or commitment to place-based and experiential education
  • Collaborative, reflective, and growth-oriented mindset
