Superintendent

Building administrators, educational services, directors, coordinators, and staff assigned to departments and programs focused on student learning, as determined by the Superintendent. These areas may include, but are not limited to, curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, educational technology, student services, multilingual learner support, gifted and talented programming, MTSS, PLCs, college and career readiness, instructional innovation, and related student-learning initiatives.

The Assistant Superintendent of Education assists the Superintendent in providing district wide leadership for all departments, programs, and systems that directly impact student learning. This position is responsible for leading a coherent K12 learning system aligned to district priorities, state standards, the strategic plan, and the district's vision for student success.

The Assistant Superintendent of Education provides leadership in curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, school improvement, program evaluation, instructional technology, and innovative learning practices. This position works closely with principals, directors, coordinators, teachers, families, community partners, and the Superintendent to strengthen student engagement, improve academic outcomes, and ensure that all students have access to meaningful, rigorous, and future-ready learning experiences.

A central responsibility of this position is to lead and support innovation across the district. Innovation in this role means identifying important student-learning challenges, designing thoughtful solutions, testing and evaluating new approaches, scaling effective practices, and building systems that support continuous improvement across schools and departments. In addition, the position leads and monitors student learning as related to innovation.

• Provides leadership and support to the Superintendent in the development, promotion, and implementation of district priorities, strategic objectives, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Perform evaluations for executive director, director, and school site principals.
• Serves as a district wide leader for student learning, instructional improvement, and innovation across all schools and learning-focused departments.
• Oversees and coordinates departments, programs, and initiatives that directly support student learning, ensuring alignment, coherence, and accountability across the district.
• Provides leadership, supervision, coaching, and evaluation for building administrators and assigned district-level directors, coordinators, and staff.
• Leads the development and implementation of a coherent K12 instructional framework aligned to state standards, district priorities, curriculum expectations, assessment practices, and student-learning goals.
• Ensures that written, taught, and assessed curricula are aligned and that curriculum review cycles are implemented with fidelity.
• Provides leadership for the design, implementation, and evaluation of district wide assessment systems, including the use of data to inform instruction, interventions, program decisions, and school improvement planning.
• Leads district wide professional learning for administrators, teachers, and instructional staff in alignment with district priorities, school improvement goals, instructional practices, and student-learning needs.
• Supports principals and instructional leaders in strengthening classroom instruction, student engagement, effective assessment practices, and high-quality learning environments.
• Leads and supports district wide systems for MTSS, PLCs, instructional coaching, intervention, enrichment, and school improvement.
• Develops and leads a district innovation agenda focused on improving student learning, increasing student engagement, strengthening instructional practice, and preparing students for future success.
• Identifies high-priority learning challenges and supports the design, testing, evaluation, and scaling of innovative practices, programs, and learning models.
• Encourages thoughtful instructional innovation, including real-world learning, student voice and choice, performance assessment, interdisciplinary learning, career-connected learning, and effective use of technology.
