Assistant Superintendent of Education

The Assistant Superintendent of Education assists the Superintendent in providing district wide leadership for all departments, programs, and systems that directly impact student learning. This position is responsible for leading a coherent K12 learning system aligned to district priorities, state standards, the strategic plan, and the district's vision for student success. The Assistant Superintendent of Education provides leadership in curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, school improvement, program evaluation, instructional technology, and innovative learning practices.

This position works closely with principals, directors, coordinators, teachers, families, community partners, and the Superintendent to strengthen student engagement, improve academic outcomes, and ensure that all students have access to meaningful, rigorous, and future-ready learning experiences. A central responsibility of this position is to lead and support innovation across the district. Innovation in this role means identifying important student-learning challenges, designing thoughtful solutions, testing and evaluating new approaches, scaling effective practices, and building systems that support continuous improvement across schools and departments.

In addition, the position leads and monitors student learning as related to innovation.

Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, assessment systems, professional learning, program evaluation, and school improvement. Knowledge of national, state, and local educational goals, standards, accountability systems, and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of current research and promising practices in teaching and learning, educational technology, artificial intelligence, student engagement, MTSS, PLCs, and instructional leadership. Knowledge of systems thinking, change management, continuous improvement, and innovation processes.

Ability to lead and support administrators, directors, coordinators, teachers, and staff across multiple departments and schools. Ability to build coherence among departments, programs, schools, and district priorities. Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and communicate data to support decision-making and continuous improvement. Ability to design, implement, monitor, and evaluate programs and initiatives. Ability to supervise and evaluate personnel effectively and professionally.

Ability to facilitate groups, lead meetings, build consensus, and support collaborative problem-solving. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the Superintendent, Board of Trustees, administrators, staff, families, students, community partners, and the public. Ability to manage budgets, resources, timelines, projects, and competing priorities. Ability to interpret and implement laws, rules, policies, and procedures. Ability to build strong professional relationships and work collaboratively with individuals and groups representing diverse perspectives.

Ability to model integrity, confidentiality, professional judgment, adaptability, and a commitment to all students.

Successful experience as a school site administrator preferred. Advanced graduate level degree from an accredited institution. Certification in Educational Leadership, School Principal, Superintendent, or other appropriate professional certification required. Wyoming license through PTSB or ability to obtain a PTSB Wyoming license required with a K-12 Superintendent Endorsement. Experience supervising and evaluating administrators preferred. Experience in public school district administration is preferred.

Experience leading curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, and school improvement required. Experience leading innovation, strategic planning, instructional technology, program evaluation, or systems-level change preferred. Demonstrated success improving student learning outcomes and supporting instructional leadership across schools preferred.
