TETON PATHOLOGY, a small, private (CAP inspected) anatomic pathology lab, located ns Health, (a county-owned independent hospital), is currently hiring a full-time Histology Technician to join a small team of professionals in gorgeous, awesome Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- prepare surgical biopsies, and autopsy specimens for microscopic study by the pathologist
- embed, cut, and stain tissue for histologic examination
- prepare and perform routine biological staining techniques
- label slides and enter information into automated systems
- prepare frozen sections (optional)
- maintain and operate equipment and instruments
- maintain records and file findings
- use automated systems to perform work assignments analyze quality control data, make judgments concerning the results, and thoroughly document any corrective action taken.
- achieve an acceptable level of performance on proficiency and competency testing samples
- identify, diagnose, and resolve problems with histologic preparations and selected special stains performed on site
- maintain a safe environment in the laboratory, following all policies and procedures for safety, hazardous materials, security, emergency preparedness and HIPAA.
- demonstrate knowledge of specimen requirements and laboratory rejection policies
Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology with certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), demonstrating competency in tissue preparation and laboratory techniques.
EXPERIENCE:3 months or more experience as a Histologist Technician, preferred.
WORK DAY:The hours of the position are M-F; preferably early hours 5:00a-2:00p, but flexible
HISTOTECHNICIAN WAGE SCALE:$30.00 to $45.00, depending on experience, ability and duties undertaken.
RELOCATION:
Teton Pathology offers a relocation package of up to $5,000 for eligible candidates (who remain for over six months,) relocating more than 300 miles. Affordable hospital-subsidized housing may also be available. For commuters, free county-sponsored bus service is available, which many employees utilize to commute from Idaho over Teton Pass, or other outlying areas. Additional terms and conditions apply.
