Position: Destination Management Organization Executive Director

The Executive Director leads Visit Jackson Hole with strategic oversight and guidance from Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Board Members to execute on the organization’s mission and vision. This role is responsible for long-range planning, fiscal oversight of an approximately $6M budget, staff leadership, policy development, and community engagement—ensuring destination promotion is balanced with responsible tourism and stewardship goals. The Executive Director serves as the primary liaison to government entities, industry partners, community stakeholders, and the media, while guiding marketing, partnerships, destination stewardship, and day-to-day operations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, execution, and ongoing evaluation of annual and long-range strategic plans in collaboration with the Board Members aligned with the JHTTB mission, vision, and responsible tourism goals.
  • Track organizational performance and report progress to the Board, industry partners, and the broader community.
  • Coordinate with the Board and staff to develop Board and committee agendas, set strategic priorities, and vet funding requests and partnership opportunities.
  • Attend and actively participate in monthly Board meetings, committee meetings, annual Board retreats, and other required governance functions.
  • In partnership with the Board, develop, administer, and oversee an annual operating budget of approximately $6 million.
  • Provide executive oversight of all fiscal operations, ensuring contracts, projects, and expenditures remain on budget.
  • Communicate financial performance, risks, forecasts, and potential funding opportunities to the Board on a regular basis.
  • Lead oversight of agencies, billing, vouchers, contracts, and expenditures in collaboration with the Fiscal Manager and staff.
  • Organizational & Team Leadership
  • Provide executive leadership to a small team of specialized members, establishing clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and responsible leadership.
  • Oversee personnel management in consultation with the Board, including hiring, discipline, termination, performance evaluations, compensation recommendations, contract reviews, and professional development.
Marketing, Partnerships & Destination Stewardship
  • Provide strategic guidance to the Director of Marketing & Sales on the development and implementation of the annual tourism marketing plan to balance destination promotion and demand-driving campaigns with tourism management and community impact considerations.
  • Provide strategic guidance to the Strategic Partnerships Manager on funding priorities and partnership development aligned with organizational mission and Sustainable Destination Management Plan (SDMP) goals.
  • Provide strategic guidance to the Destination Stewardship Manager, collaborating on SDMP implementation, performance measurement, and updates.
  • Serve as the primary liaison and spokesperson when addressing Town and County agencies, elected officials, the Wyoming Office of Tourism, media, and during other functions and events as required
  • Cultivate strong relationships with community leaders, business owners, hospitality partners, conservation organizations, nonprofit groups, and major stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in senior leadership roles with direct responsibility for managing teams and budgets.
