Public Works Street Operator​/Water Utility Locator

The Town of Jackson, Public Works Department is now accepting applications for the full‑time position of Street Operator / Utility Locator. Hiring range is $29.82 – $33 per hour or $62,025 – $68,640 annually DOQ.

The primary duties include utility locates in spring, summer, and fall, as well as the documentation associated with those locates. Additional responsibilities involve public right‑of‑way maintenance such as winter snow removal, street maintenance, sidewalk and boardwalk upkeep, and backup operations for water and sewer when necessary. • Conduct utility locates each season and maintain accurate records.
• Perform winter snow removal operations on public roads.
• Maintain streets, sidewalks, and boardwalks.
• Assist with water and sewer backup operations as needed.

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain one.
• At least two years of experience in a maintenance position using light or heavy‑duty equipment or construction activities.
• Opportunity for on‑the‑job training for selected applicants lacking experience or required licenses.

A $7,500 signing/longevity bonus is awarded over three years. Operators may advance to Equipment Operator / Utility Locator I and beyond, receiving a 4.5% increase in addition to annual wage increases with each promotion.
