Teacher/Coach (Ast. Boys Basketball)
The teacher/coach is responsible for promoting the student/athlete philosophy both during the academic instruction of the classroom and the total athletic program. The teacher/coach must demonstrate strong content knowledge in their academic teaching area as well as a climate of "respect" to ensure a strong academic environment. The candidate should demonstrate an attitude of preparation for the classroom and field (court) to maximize the total student academic learning and their athletic ability.
The teacher/coach must demonstrate leadership in student/player development of these attributes: sportsmanship, integrity and character. Candidates should possess strong communication and organizational skills.
Essential duties and responsibilities include providing an instructional program to meet the needs of all students, creating a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process, preparing for classes assigned, adhering to the curriculum pacing guide, planning for and utilizing instructional methods, resources and evaluation techniques, taking all necessary and safety precautions, maintaining accurate and complete records, fostering an appreciation of the values of athletics, working cooperatively with building administrators and maintenance personnel, ensuring the concept of "Good Sportsmanship" is communicated, promoting the athletic program within the school and community, establishing and enforcing the physical, academic and training requirements of eligibility for participation, attending all athletic events, demonstrating knowledge of AAA rules, working with athletic director and principal in the hiring of assistant coaches, recommending the type and amount of equipment and supplies needed, working cooperatively with other head coaches, and performing other duties as assigned.
Education/Licensure/
Experience:
Bachelor's degree with a license in the academic area to teach other than PE/Health is required with a coaching endorsement/AAA certificate courses in the organization and administration of athletic programs. Five years of experience as a teacher and coach preferred.

Skills:
Ability to recruit and build a team and create an environment in which the team can use its skills and abilities to their maximum potential. Ability to interpret data and strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
