Interim Controller (Month-End Focus)

Our client, a growing, PE‑backed organization, is seeking an Interim Controller to support the finance team during a maternity leave coverage period. This role is primarily focused on owning and managing the month‑end close process
, reviewing accounting work, and relieving day‑to‑day close management from the internal leadership team so they can focus on higher‑level initiatives.

This is a hands‑on, roll‑up‑your‑sleeves role ideal for an experienced accounting professional who is comfortable stepping into a new environment, quickly understanding processes, and providing immediate value. The engagement is expected to run through mid‑April
, with potential flexibility based on business needs.

• Manage and drive the month‑end close process, ensuring adherence to the close calendar
• Monitor and execute close activities using Flo Qast, including checklist management and issue tracking
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of open items
• Review and approve journal entries in Net Suite
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial data during close

• Review work prepared by staff accountants and senior accountants
• Provide guidance and clarification to team members as needed (not a formal people‑management role)
• Assist with quality control prior to financial information being finalized or shared

• Support the team during year‑end audit activities
• Review documentation and schedules prior to submission to auditors
• No direct auditor communication required (handled by internal leadership)

• Provide limited ad hoc accounting support as issues arise during the close cycle
• Assist with short‑term accounting needs related to a recent acquisition, as directed
• Escalate risks, delays, or concerns proactively

• Net Suite (required)
• Flo Qast (nice to have; training provided)
• Strong Excel skills required

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Prior experience as an Accounting Manager, Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager
• Strong hands‑on month‑end close ownership experience
• Proven ability to review reconciliations and journal entries in a fast‑paced environment
• Experience stepping into interim, contract, or project‑based roles preferred
• Ability to work independently with minimal ramp‑up time

• Public accounting background (audit or advisory)
• Prior interim or consulting experience
• Exposure to acquisition‑related accounting or integration work
• Flo Qast experience
