The General Accountant plays a key role in supporting the finance and accounting function by preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, processing accounts payable and employee reimbursements, and assisting with financial statement preparation. This position also provides support for annual audits and ensures that all accounting activities are completed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and GAAP standards.
- Prepare and complete reconciliations of general ledger accounts, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and clearing accounts
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Record and post journal entries accurately and timely
- Process insurance program payments, including receiving funds and issuing payments to franchisees
- Respond to inquiries related to program payments
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and financial reporting packages
- Produce ad hoc financial reports, analyses, and special projects as assigned by management
- Support internal and external audits, including SOX-related audit activities
- Ensure all duties are performed in compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and organizational policies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, One Drive, SharePoint)
- Experience with Sage Intacct
- Strong knowledge of accounting fundamentals and financial statements
- Familiarity with finance‑related systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities
- Ability to create financial documents, reports, and spreadsheets
- Ability to follow established processes and procedures accurately
- Proficiency with standard office equipment (fax, scanner, printer, phone systems, computers)
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and pass required background checks
- Demonstrates professionalism and alignment with organizational values and mission principles
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 2+ years of experience in an accounting role
- Experience working with general ledger accounts
- Experience preparing financial statements and supporting year‑end audits
