We’re partnering with a growing organization to identify a Director of Accounting who will play a critical leadership role within the finance function. This individual will oversee the company’s consolidated financial statements, technical accounting matters, and external reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with all applicable regulatory standards.

This position is designed for an accounting leader who combines strong technical depth with business acumen. The ideal candidate brings a foundation in public accounting and has since operated in complex corporate environments where they’ve supported acquisitions, evaluated emerging accounting guidance, and partnered across finance, legal, and executive teams to navigate sophisticated transactions and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Consolidations
  • Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements.
  • Oversee the global close and consolidation process, including eliminations, intercompany activity, and multi-entity reporting.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial statement deliverables.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations, flux analyses, and reporting packages.
Technical Accounting
  • Serve as the company’s technical accounting subject matter expert.
  • Lead technical assessments for complex and non-standard transactions, including revenue recognition, business combinations, lease accounting, and equity transactions.
  • Research, interpret, and implement new U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting guidance.
  • Prepare and review technical accounting memos and position papers.
  • Maintain and update corporate accounting policies and procedures.
SEC & External Reporting
  • Oversee preparation and review of SEC filings including 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other required disclosures.
  • Ensure compliance with all public company reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate footnote disclosures and MD&A support schedules.
  • Monitor emerging disclosure requirements and regulatory updates.
Audit & Compliance
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
  • Lead annual financial statement audits and quarterly review processes.
  • Coordinate audit deliverables, PBC requests, and technical discussions.
  • Ensure SOX compliance across financial reporting processes.
  • Support translation of foreign subsidiary financials into U.S. GAAP.
  • Oversee foreign currency accounting and consolidation adjustments.
  • Ensure proper treatment of international transactions and reporting structures.
M&A & Strategic Transactions
  • Support accounting diligence and technical assessments for acquisitions.
  • Lead purchase accounting, valuation coordination, and opening balance sheet preparation.
  • Partner with Corporate Development on transaction structuring considerations.
  • Oversee integration of acquired entities into reporting and consolidation frameworks.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Lead and develop the financial reporting and technical accounting team.
  • Establish close calendars, review procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Partner with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Legal, and Corporate Development.
  • Provide accounting guidance to executive leadership on strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s preferred).
  • CPA required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience OR 5–7+ years in public accounting with industry leadership experience.
  • Strong foundation in U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting.
  • Experience leading consolidated financial reporting.
  • Deep technical accounting expertise across complex transactions.
  • Hands-on experience with external audits and SOX compliance.
  • Exposure to M&A and purchase accounting strongly preferred.
