Manager Accounting

SUMMARY:

The person in this position supervises effective and timely monthly US GAAP financial close and internal reporting, including the consolidation, preparation, and analysis of financial statements for assigned regions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Develop and enhance greater interaction with accounting operations in assigned regions

* Execute and/or manage specific areas of accounting as assigned (e.g., capital reporting)

* Interface with cash management on general ledger activities

* Support the company's external reporting processes, including the annual audit and quarterly reviews of the consolidated financial statements and other requests for services performed by the company's external auditors

* Continually assess effectiveness and efficiency of accounting operations, identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement as well as establishing and evaluating appropriate observable metrics

* Support the company's mergers-and-acquisitions activities, including participating in due diligence activities and ensuring effective integration of accounting processes

* Support internal audit activities within sphere of influence

* Supervise and train assigned staff

* Manage other projects and perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR

EXPERIENCE:

* Transportation industry experience, particularly railroad, preferred

* Good communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with all levels

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:

* Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA or MBA preferred

* A minimum of seven to ten years of related experience; US public-company experience preferred
