Job Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the Corporate Accounting team through the preparation and maintenance of accurate financial records, account reconciliations, and month‑end close activities. This position performs critical accounting functions including bank reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, intercompany accounting, and audit support while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies. The Staff Accountant collaborates with business units and cross‑functional departments to promote accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and support continuous process improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and record journal entries, cash transactions, corporate allocations, general ledger account analysis, roll forwards, and other analysis required for the month‑end close.
  • Timely and accurate completion of monthly financial close.
  • Monthly reconciliation and resolution of balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and fixed asset accounts.
  • Editing and reconciling financial reports and providing resolutions for accounting issues.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management with understanding of causes of variances to prior month, previous year, and budgeted results.
  • Special projects as required.
  • Calculation and reconciliation of commissions, referrals, audit and filing fees, rebates, etc.
  • Understand and assist in management of financial controls.
  • Working knowledge of Accounting Operations (A/P, A/R, Billing, Document Management).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree and two years of experience in General Ledger Accounting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products with an intermediate skill level in Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, external content, etc.).
  • Experience with Great Plains, Lease Query, Blackline, and FAS is helpful but not required.
  • Highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data and excellent verbal/writing skills.
  • Willing and able to work with several different departments/locations and manage multiple tasks daily.
  • Strong time‑management skills with the ability to adhere to established deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow‑through.
Additional Requirements
  • No travel required.
  • Language skills: ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Mathematical skills: ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning ability: ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer operations: strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and effectively use software applications such as move management, accounting/billing, HRIS, timekeeping, and other applications used in the performance of job duties.
  • Planning/organization: ability to prioritize and re‑prioritize as situations and needs change throughout the workday; ability to multi‑task and organize workflow to manage daily responsibilities, meet deadlines and prioritize work.
