EFI Global is a full-service engineering, fire investigation, environmental, health and safety, and specialty consulting services firm. This position focuses on investigating fire events to determine origin, cause, and responsibility for client and insurer assignments.
Responsibilities- Accept assignments from customers for investigation of losses or claims and pursue the investigation in accordance with the specific needs of the assignment.
- Determine the origin and cause of the loss/claim and identify any potential third‑party responsibility for subrogation.
- Maintain required reporting commitments to clients in accordance with EFI’s standard procedures.
- Promote and market utilization of EFI services within the assigned insurance territory.
- Serve as liaison between the insurance industry and law enforcement/fire service personnel.
- Investigate losses/claims with illegal, fraudulent or subrogation aspects in accordance with client or attorney assignment.
- Identify and interview all witnesses or involved persons who may possess information pertinent to the incident, including motive, opportunity or other relevant evidence.
- Conduct thorough inspections of available public records, including land deeds, mortgages, liens, suits, judgments, marriage and divorce records, etc.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of laws related to privacy rights and public record availability to ensure investigations are conducted legally and ethically.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Travel as required.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred. - Certification:
Minimum requirement is Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI). IAAI Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI‑CFI) certification preferred and must be obtained within six months of employment. - Experience:
Three (3) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in PC applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational and time‑management capabilities.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and interpretive abilities.
- Proficient investigative skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Capability to meet or exceed performance competencies.
- Physical:
Must stand, walk, kneel, squat, bend, climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, lift/carry up to 50 lbs, and push/pull up to 100 lbs. Must be able to travel up to four hours per day. - Mental:
Clear conceptual thinking, sound judgment, discretion, ability to handle stress, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. - Auditory/Visual:
Adequate hearing and vision required for effective communication. - Accommodations will be considered for reasonable accommodations where applicable.
