Senior Director for Business Development

Bioptimus is building the first universal AI foundation model for biology to fuel breakthrough discoveries and accelerate innovation in biomedicine. With more than $75M in funding, Bioptimus is a fast‑growing start‑up headquartered in Paris.

What you’ll be doing
  • Influence the go‑to‑market strategy: Analyze and identify the optimal positioning to deploy our science, models and products.
  • Develop strategic partnerships: Identify, negotiate and manage partnerships with key stakeholders in biopharma.
  • Revenue growth and target achievement: Drive revenue growth by meeting or exceeding business development targets and by monitoring sales performance metrics to inform strategic decisions.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Actively promote Bioptimus at industry events, conferences and through digital platforms; develop and deliver compelling pitches and presentations to engage potential clients and partners; maintain strong relationships with existing partners while expanding the company’s network.
  • Teamwork and collaboration: Collaborate with cross‑functional teams – R&D, marketing and product development – to ensure alignment of business strategies and goals.
What you’ll bring
  • Master’s degree in Business or Science (or equivalent experience)
  • Expert level experience in a relevant environment (selling to Pharma & Biotech) with a proven track record in terms of business impact
  • Familiarity with AI models that accelerate early research, clinical development, trial optimization, biomarker discovery and diagnostics
  • Understanding of the biomedical ecosystem and the biomedical data lifecycle
  • Understanding of SaaS/software business models
  • Proven track record in meeting and exceeding aggressive sales targets
  • Flexibility and creativity in solving complex customer problems
  • In‑depth knowledge and extensive network within large pharmaceutical R&D in the US/EU
  • Excellent time‑management and record‑keeping skills
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A ‘team‑first’ attitude
  • Thrives in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment

  • Interviews – After a successful technical assessment, you will be invited to a series of interviews:
    • Live Case Study (1 hour): A live case study focused on technology, your sales experience, or a “Sell Bioptimus” exercise.
    • Tech / Product–oriented interview (1 hour):
      Discussion focused on technical and product aspects.
    • Tech interview (30 min):
      Discussion of our current technical setup and infrastructure with team members.
    • Executive interview:
      Meeting with senior leadership to discuss vision for the role and cultural alignment.
  • Offer – Following completion of all interviews, the hiring team will make a final decision and contact you to discuss the offer. An offer is contingent on a reference check.
  • Onboarding – After acceptance and signing the offer, we will begin the onboarding process.
