The OPS GOC I position is an entry level position within the Employee Resources Office at the Florida Department of Health in Duval County. This position will report directly to the Employee Resources Director. This position will also provide support to our Workforce Development Coordinator, on an as needed basis. This position requires professionalism, integrity, flexibility, teamwork, computer skills, positive attitude, and a willingness to learn and grow.
This position will be responsible for providing support services for the employee training program, support outreach initiatives, assist with all HR Tickets, and will work to further develop our department’s volunteer and intern services program. Work with the Employee Resources team in identifying strategies for greater employee recruitment, satisfaction, and retention efforts. This is a grant funded position and continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funding.
This position is an in-office and field work position and must be available to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 5:00pm.
- Assist with our Public Health Workforce Integration (PHWI) program which occurs every two weeks, and may include the following:
- Assist in the coordination of bi‑weekly for new employees and once a month of interns and residents PHWI session.
- Maintain and update PHWI tracking tools, user access forms, and documentation logs.
- Prepare program materials including folders, agenda, tent cards, and promotional items; copy and order copies as needed.
- Print and activate employee badges and document new badges, as well as returned badges.
- Coordinate and complete Level II background screenings and drug screenings as per DOH policy.
- Set up the training room prior to PHWI and ensure it is cleaned/reset prior to and afterwards.
- Serve as PHWI backup facilitator in the absence of the lead trainer.
- Facilitate PHWI sessions as assigned, especially those tailored for interns, volunteers, fellows, and/or residents.
- Workforce Development:
- Assists in the coordination and delivery of workforce development and training initiatives, including scheduling, logistics, communication, and materials preparation.
- Provides logistical assistance for organizational consultation, coaching activities, mentoring opportunities, and leadership development sessions.
- Assist in embedding DOH-Duval’s vision, mission, and values into workforce initiatives through clear communication, thoughtful, and collaborative support.
- TRAIN Florida Revised
- Create and manage TRAIN Florida accounts and assign required training plans/classes for new employees, volunteers, interns, fellows, contractors, and other designated individuals.
- Reset passwords
- Run reports upon request.
- Volunteer, Intern, and Contractor Program Support:
- Assist with development and expansion of the department’s volunteer, intern, and contractor programs.
- Engage in outreach efforts within Duval community to promote program and recruitment opportunities.
- Communicate with managers and supervisors to identify and place volunteers and interns in appropriate roles.
- Assist in facilitating PHWI.
- Assist with timesheet documentation and reporting as instructed.
- GROW and LEAD:
Public Health Leadership Development Academy duties to include: - Assist with updates, rebranding, and expansion of the program.
- Contribute to content development, coordination, scheduling, and participant communication.
