Overview

Title: Builder

Location: Jacksonville, FL

Employment Type: Full-Time / Permanent / Onsite

What you’ll do
  • Observe on-site construction staff
  • Schedule and communicate with subcontractors, inspectors and suppliers
  • Collaborate and resolve daily on-site matters
  • Inspect ongoing work for compliance with codes, plans and specifications, and safety regulations
  • Manage construction and production schedule of assigned homes from start to close, including 30-day warranty service request signoff
  • Ensure on-time QA readiness
  • Attend regular staff meetings to discuss safety, quality, starts and closings, production timelines, costs and other issues as determined
  • Walk each home twice daily to note imperfections and verify compliance with codes, plans, specifications and safety regulations, and that options are as requested
  • Update online construction schedules daily
  • Conduct on-site vendor, subcontractor and homeowner meetings
  • Assist with scheduling material orders, verifying delivery accuracy, and making adjustments as needed
  • Manage loss prevention and secure homes daily
  • Schedule municipal inspections and assist inspectors to rectify issues
  • Ensure homes and sites are kept clean during construction
  • Monitor daily work functions: timeliness, quality, safety, hygiene, scopes of work and completion
  • Review subcontractor work for completion before approving invoices or PO’s
  • Coordinate activities with Site and Head Office for seamless production
  • Work with Sales, Operations and Warranty teams to verify punch items are completed before closing
  • Participate in jobsite safety management by logging infractions
  • Ensure adherence to Mattamy Policy and Procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
What you bring
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of experience in residential construction with building homes from start to finish
  • General knowledge of applicable residential building codes
  • Proficient in construction scheduling with builder software
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Adhere to procedures as required by subcontractor Scopes of Work and Mattamy Quality Standards, and take corrective action as necessary
  • Conduct a detailed frame check on each unit prior to drywall, and follow up to ensure timely completion of any items noted
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and comply with safety standards
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, 10 hour OSHA certification
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, SWPPP Certification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and others
  • Work well under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Proficient in MS Office and construction scheduling software
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments within given instructions and practices
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and perform special projects as assigned
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License; ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb stairs and ladders, walk over uneven terrain, and work outdoors
Bonus points
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction or related program preferred
  • Build Pro software experience preferred
