Construction Project Safety Coordinator

Overview

Position will be based on a project in Shreveport, LA or Sullivan, IN, or Monroe, NC. In this role, you will manage project-specific safety and health issues to protect Haskell employees, contract‑partner employees, client personnel, and the general public, and coordinate project activities to comply with applicable rules, regulations, and policies.

• Participate in safety pre‑planning and hazard analysis with the project superintendent.
• Initiate and monitor project drug‑screening procedures.
• Conduct safety orientation and training for all employees and contract partners upon arrival on site.
• Provide all necessary safety training for the assigned project.
• Enforce The Haskell Company Code of Safe Practice throughout the project.
• Support the project superintendent in safety efforts; provide daily inspection and correction audits.
• Maintain follow‑up procedures to ensure identified items are corrected promptly.
• When an imminent danger is identified, stop operations, protect others from the hazard, and contact the project superintendent for immediate correction.
• Verify training of those involved in the generation of hazardous conditions.
• Communicate with the assigned Regional Safety Supervisor (RSS) on all project safety issues and perform monthly Safety Evaluation Report (SER) with the RSS.
• Participate in pre‑construction and subcontractor meetings to review safety‑related issues before work commences.
• Conduct weekly safety meetings with all project employees.
• Enforce safety rules using established disciplinary action guidelines.
• Maintain required employee training records and all project safety documentation.
• Administer record‑keeping and reporting as required by regulatory agencies and company policies.
• Conduct accident investigations and assist the project superintendent in prompt incident/accident reporting.
• Inspect and maintain safety equipment.
• Issue confined‑space and "hot work" permits as required.
• Accompany authorized outside‑entity personnel on safety inspections.
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

• 3–5 years of experience in the construction industry.
• Experience in Advanced Technology and Mission Critical Market, Manufacturing, and Industrial Water projects.
• Recognized safety certification (STS, CSST, CSSS) through BCSP or NCCER.
• Ability to enforce federal, state, local, and company regulations.
• Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
