Assistant Superintendent

Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent supports day-to-day site operations for mid-to-large scale residential and commercial construction projects. The role focuses on schedule management, quality control, subcontractor coordination, safety compliance and on-site problem solving to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to specification. This position will frequently support Multifamily, Hotel and Senior Living projects often garden-style and wood-frame construction and requires occasional travel to multiple job sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Superintendent in planning and executing daily site operations to meet project schedules and milestones.
• Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, trades and site labor to ensure work is performed safely, on schedule and meets quality standards.
• Monitor and maintain jobsite safety programs; enforce OSHA and company safety policies and conduct regular safety inspections and toolbox talks.
• Perform quality control inspections, verify work against plans and specs, and promptly address defects or deviations.
• Assist with schedule development and tracking; identify critical path items and mobilize resources to avoid delays.
• Manage on-site material deliveries, storage and inventory to optimize workflow and reduce waste.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, RFIs, submittals and as-built documentation using company systems (e.g., Procore or similar).
• Communicate proactively with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors and owners to resolve issues and maintain positive relationships.
• Coordinate inspections and support permitting and close-out activities to facilitate timely approvals and turnover.
• Travel between job sites as required to support multiple projects and provide hands-on leadership where needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of field experience in a superintendent or assistant superintendent role on commercial or multifamily projects (multifamily, hotel, senior living experience strongly preferred).
• Demonstrated experience with garden-style or mid-rise wood-frame construction and knowledge of relevant building systems and assemblies.
• Strong working knowledge of construction scheduling, reading blueprints, plans and specifications.
• Proven ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and manage on-site teams to achieve schedule and quality goals.
• Familiarity with construction management platforms (Procore, Plan Grid or similar) and MS Office suite.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred;
  First Aid/CPR a plus.
• Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and quality.
• Valid drivers license and ability to travel regularly between job sites; willingness to work extended hours as project needs demand.
• Associate degree or certificate in Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred but not required; equivalent field experience will be considered.
