POSITION OVERVIEW
The Construction Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules for commercial drywall, framing, acoustical ceilings, specialty ceilings, and related construction projects. This role works closely with project managers, superintendents, field leadership, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to ensure projects are planned effectively, resources are properly allocated, and milestones are achieved on time.
The ideal candidate possesses strong scheduling expertise, construction knowledge, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while supporting successful project delivery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Project Scheduling and Planning- Develop detailed baseline schedules for drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, specialty ceilings, and finishing activities.
- Create and maintain project timelines from preconstruction through project closeout.
- Identify project milestones, critical path activities, and resource requirements.
- Establish short-term and long-term schedules to support field operations.
- Update project schedules regularly based on field progress and changing project conditions.
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, estimators, and field teams to develop realistic project schedules.
- Coordinate manpower planning and workforce allocation across multiple projects.
- Monitor subcontractor, supplier, and material delivery schedules.
- Assist in identifying schedule conflicts and recommend corrective actions.
- Participate in project meetings and provide schedule updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Track actual progress against planned schedules.
- Produce weekly and monthly schedule reports.
- Analyze schedule variances and communicate potential impacts to project leadership.
- Maintain schedule documentation and historical project data.
- Support delay analysis and recovery schedule development when necessary.
- Coordinate labor forecasting and manpower requirements.
- Work with operations leadership to optimize crew utilization across projects.
- Monitor equipment, material, and subcontractor availability.
- Assist with workforce planning to support project deadlines.
- Identify schedule risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Evaluate impacts of change orders, delays, and unforeseen site conditions.
- Support recovery planning to maintain project milestones and completion dates.
- Promote proactive communication to minimize project disruptions.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent construction scheduling experience will be considered.
- 3-7+ years of construction scheduling experience.
- Experience with commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, specialty ceilings, or interior systems preferred.
- Experience supporting multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or other scheduling software.
- Strong knowledge of critical path scheduling methods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with construction management software such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Viewpoint, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of commercial construction sequencing and trade coordination.
- Knowledge of drywall, framing, finishing, and ceiling installation processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with field and office teams.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
