Job Summary - Only individuals invited by the LBS College of Arts and Sciences are eligible to apply.
The Guest Artist is a distinguished practitioner invited to contribute specialized artistic/scholastic expertise to the University community. This position enhances the academic experience of students through performances, workshops, masterclasses, lectures, critiques, or short-term instructional engagements. The Guest Artist collaborates with faculty and students to support creative, scholarly, and professional development aligned with the mission of the institution.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Present public performances, exhibitions, readings, lectures, screenings, or demonstrations as scheduled.
- Conduct masterclasses, workshops, lectures, or direction/rehearsals for students.
- Provide individual or group critiques and mentorship to students.
- Collaborate with faculty on curriculum-related activities and special projects.
- Participate in panel discussions, community outreach, or campus engagement events as requested.
- Attend rehearsals or preparatory meetings as appropriate.
- Uphold University policies, procedures, and community standards during the engagement period.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Recognized professional achievement in the artistic field.
- Demonstrated experience in performance, exhibition, or professional artistic practice.
- Master's degree or terminal degree (MFA, DMA, PhD, or equivalent) in the relevant discipline.
- Prior experience teaching or working with university students.
- Regional, national, or international recognition in the field.
- Experience engaging diverse audiences and academic communities.
- Expertise in a specific discipline (e.g., instrumental/vocal performance, theatre, dance, visual arts, film, creative writing).
- Ability to engage, inspire, and mentor students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professionalism and collaborative approach within an academic environment.
- Appointment is temporary and limited to the duration of the engagement.
- Compensation will be determined based on scope of services, credentials, and budget approval.
- Housing, travel, and other expenses may be provided in accordance with University policy and contractual agreement.
The position may require rehearsal, performance, studio, classroom, or gallery environments. Evening or weekend commitments may be required depending on event scheduling.
