Department School of Music-OPS Compensation $50.00 to Negotiable Hourly Position Summary The UNF Opera Workshop seeks a collaborative pianist beginning the week of August 24, 2026, and continuing through the final performance on December 5, 2026. The collaborative pianist will provide musical support for student performers, assist in the rehearsal and performance process, and work closely with the Opera Workshop instructor to facilitate the successful preparation and presentation of opera scenes and performances.

The class meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, with additional rehearsals and performances as scheduled.

Job Functions (Essential Duties)
Provide piano accompaniment for all scheduled Opera Workshop classes and rehearsals.

Prepare and perform piano reductions and accompaniments for assigned Musical Theater repertoire.

Collaborate with student singers to support musical learning, rehearsal preparation, and performance readiness.

Accompany students during coaching sessions, scene rehearsals, studio rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances.

Work closely with Instructor Dina Barone and other production personnel to coordinate musical aspects of rehearsals and performances.

Maintain a high level of musical preparation and professionalism throughout the appointment period.

Adapt accompaniment and rehearsal techniques to meet the instructional and performance needs of student performers.

Attend required dress rehearsals, technical rehearsals, production runs, and public performances.

Provide timely communication regarding scheduling, repertoire preparation, and performance needs.

Support the educational mission of the Opera Workshop by fostering a collaborative and productive rehearsal environment.

Marginal Functions (Non-Essential Duties)
Assist with the preparation and organization of rehearsal materials and musical scores.

Provide occasional section rehearsals or musical coaching support as requested by the instructor.

Participate in production meetings when necessary to support musical or performance planning.

Assist with rehearsal recordings, practice materials, or other musical resources as needed.

Perform other related duties in support of Opera Workshop activities and performances.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance, Collaborative Piano, Music, or a closely related field.

Minimum of three years of experience in collaborative piano performance.

Demonstrated proficiency in piano accompaniment and sight-reading.

Ability to work effectively with singers, faculty, and students in a collaborative educational environment.

Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of standard musical theater repertoire.

Experience accompanying classical vocalists.

Experience working in collegiate, professional, or educational opera programs.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Working Conditions Regular work schedule includes Opera Workshop classes held Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM.Additional evening and weekend hours may be required for rehearsals, technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances.

Work is performed in rehearsal rooms, classrooms, and performance venues.
