Job Summary

Miller Electric – VDC Planner is responsible for the planning, layout, design, and coordination of assigned projects. They rely on extensive electrical knowledge in the construction field.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Planning, layout, and design of electrical installations.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical systems, construction documents, and quality construction work practices.
  • Seek ways to infuse quality and labor savings into overall layout efforts.
  • Work with the Project Coordinator via the VDC Planner Production Supervisor’s appointment.
  • Review Construction Documents (Drawings and Specifications) notes and list what is important from a VDC viewpoint on the PLD Dashboard.
  • Create detailed bill of materials for the Inwall Task.
  • Plan and lay out work for modeler’s use.
  • Develop a 2D document plan based on specs, drawing notes, design drawings and applicable codes for the modeler to create a digital model, instituting QA parameters.
  • Maintain regular contact with Project Personnel and collaborate on project requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
  • Licensed journeyman with 1-3 years of running work on a construction jobsite.
  • Demonstrates willingness to learn and efficiently use software such as Bluebeam and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with team collaboration.
  • Problem‑solving ability and ability to work under rigorous schedules.
  • Organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding all forms of construction documents.
  • Ability to interpret 2D plans and provide input to a 3D model.
  • Commitment to continued learning and development.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
