Senior Manager Science Curriculum

Position Summary

Science Curriculum Specialist will serve as a curriculum manager for the schools across the KIPP Jacksonville region. The Specialist leads the full implementation of the K‑12 science curriculum, ensuring that students experience rigorous, hands‑on, and engaging learning aligned to standards and school goals. The role includes facilitating professional development, driving data conversations, modeling lesson delivery, and providing ongoing support to teachers.

• Collaborate with regional and school leaders to develop and refine a horizontally and vertically aligned K‑12 science framework.
• Develop and facilitate region‑wide professional development for teachers to build capacity with science content, planning, and instructional execution.
• Support the Senior Director in overseeing full implementation of the identified science curriculum across all grade levels, including Advanced Placement.
• Create and revise regional curriculum calendars and instructional guidance in collaboration with the academic team and schools.
• Ensure alignment of curriculum to standards and state assessments.
• Serve as a liaison to school‑based content leads by running regional department meetings and teacher content teams.
• Analyze regional data with regional and school leadership to identify areas of need, and support region‑wide instructional initiatives.
• Monitor all science specials classes at the elementary level.
• Conduct regular instructional reviews of science‑based instruction in partnership with school‑based leadership teams.
• Serve as a model teacher and assist as needed in classroom settings.
• Provide coaching to teachers and school‑based content leaders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• At least four (4) years of relevant teaching experience in K‑12 science.
• Evidence of leading or influencing others through a teacher‑leader, coaching, or administrative role (e.g., grade‑level chair, content chair, department chair, professional development facilitator, coach, assistant principal).
• Florida teaching certificate in a relevant area or equivalent (K‑6, Science 5‑9, or Biology/Chemistry 6‑12).
• Demonstrated strong student achievement results in science.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and leaders.
• Outstanding public‑speaking and writing skills.
• Technological proficiency and adaptability.
• Passing a background check, as required by law.
• In accordance with Florida House Bill 531, this position requires a background screening through the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

• Experience teaching science in Florida in a tested/assessed grade level.
• Prior experience as an instructional coach or content specialist.
• Experience with various science curricula.

• Starting salary $62,000.
