Visiting Laboratory Lecturer of Chemistry (9‑month, non‑tenure).
Salary: $51,000.00 to negotiable.
Duration: 9 months.

Primary Purpose/Overview

To teach undergraduate chemistry laboratory courses with a 5/5 teaching load or equivalent and provide service to the department, college, and university.

Responsibilities
  • Teach introductory and general chemistry laboratory courses, as well as modern analytical, biochemistry, physical, and/or organic chemistry lab courses, depending on candidate experience.
  • Prepare chemicals and equipment to ensure laboratory spaces are properly maintained and ready for instructional use.
  • Collaborate with Laboratory Manager and Laboratory Technician to provide laboratory support each term.
  • Determine supplies and consumables to be ordered to support instructional laboratory activities.
  • Maintain appropriate instructional resources and documentation.
  • Provide service to the department, college, and university.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in chemistry or a closely related field.
  • Previous documented experience teaching undergraduate chemistry laboratory courses.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to create an excellent learning environment using student‑centered instructional methods.
  • Strong oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of most or all requirements for a doctorate or equivalent terminal degree.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate laboratory courses.
  • Experience with online instruction and curriculum development initiatives.
Appointment Details

This is a temporary, 9‑month appointment that may be full‑time or part‑time as required. The normal teaching load is four courses per semester. The position reports to the Department Chair and does not involve supervisory responsibilities.
