Job Description
Are you passionate about supporting nursing students on their journey to success? Join our team as an Academic Support & Simulation Specialist, where you'll play a critical role in preparing future nurses for both academic achievement and success on the NCLEX-RN exam.
In this role, you'll partner with academic leadership, faculty, and staff to provide targeted support and individualized coaching for students throughout their program. You'll work one-on-one and in small groups to assess learning styles, reinforce key concepts, and design personalized remediation plans-helping learners build confidence and clinical competence.
In addition, you will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the campus simulation lab, supporting a student population of approximately 300-350 learners. This role plays a critical part in ensuring high-quality simulation-based learning experiences that align with curriculum and academic outcomes.
As the sole Specialist on campus, this individual must operate with a high level of independence, organization, and flexibility while partnering closely with faculty and academic leadership.
What You'll Do:
Student Support & Academic Coaching
- Work with students individually and in small groups to assess learning styles, identify strengths, and uncover opportunities for academic development
- Provide individual or group tutoring to reinforce key concepts
- Participate in outreach to students with at-risk referrals
- Create and implement personalized remediation plans to support academic and professional success
- Demonstrate current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of concepts tested by the NCLEX-RN, as well as current nursing practice, to provide academic support
- Assist in the creation of Next Generation NCLEX activities and workshops
- Facilitate simulation-based experiences (SBE) and lab activities, including equipment maintenance, ordering supplies, set-up, and clean-up
- Assist in developing and implementing detailed, clinically based scenarios for simulated learning, including the use of high-fidelity patient simulators
- Coordinate and supervise lab experiences to ensure students have the opportunity to meet course objectives
- Staff open lab sessions and provide individual oversight to students during practice and/or remediation of technical nursing skills, as required by course objectives
- Collaborate with faculty, academic partners, and staff to support student success
- Communicate and document (report) students' academic and co-curricular progress toward achievement of student and program learning outcomes to academic leadership (e.g., retention committee)
- Demonstrate service excellence through friendliness, courtesy, professionalism, effective communication, and a commitment to first-class service for students, team members, and external partners
- Comply with all policies and standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Scheduling flexibility required, including evening and weekend hours to support campus and student needs
- Make a meaningful impact on future nurses and patient care outcomes

- Contribute to innovative learning strategies, including Next Generation NCLEX preparation
Education & Licensure
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required, Master's Degree in Nursing preferred
- Active, unencumbered RN license
- BLS CPR certification required, ACLS and/or PALS certification preferred
- BLS CPR Instructor certification required)
