Job Description

Starting Salary: $48,700. Additional referendum money available for the next three years starting at $5,400 for the 25-26 school year; teachers hired during the school year receive a prorated supplement based on hire date.

Job Summary

Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.

Essential

Functions

Meets and instructs assigned classes in the designated locations and times.

Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students. Prepares for assigned classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.

Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.

Supervises students to protect them from conditions harmful to learning and/or their mental and physical health and safety, taking all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records per law, district policy, and regulation.

Diagnoses learning disabilities of students regularly, seeking assistance from district specialists as required.

Assists administration in implementing rules governing student life and conduct, developing reasonable classroom behavior rules, and maintaining order fairly.

Provides availability to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested.

Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides or volunteers, evaluates their performance cooperatively with department heads.

Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: None.

Certifications & Licenses: Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education certification in the appropriate subject area.
