Position: School Culture Specialist (K-8)

Position Overview

The School Culture Specialist is responsible for supporting and strengthening the school’s culture and climate by fostering a positive, safe, and structured learning environment for all students. This role focuses on building strong relationships with students and staff, promoting student accountability, and supporting restorative practices and behavior systems that encourage positive student engagement and success. The School Culture Specialist collaborates closely with school leaders, teachers, students, and families to address behavioral concerns, reinforce expectations, and support the implementation of the Duval County Public Schools Code of Student Conduct.

This position also assists with attendance initiatives, student interventions, and proactive culture-building programs designed to reduce disciplinary issues and maintain a productive and supportive school environment.

Specific Position Duties
  • Supports the implementation of student discipline practices in alignment with the Duval County Public Schools Code of Student Conduct, including counseling students and communicating with parents/guardians regarding behavioral concerns.
  • Assists in ensuring the Code of Student Conduct is distributed, communicated, and understood by students, families, and staff. Supports staff training and guidance related to student behavior expectations and procedures.
  • Provides proactive student support, preventive counseling, and early intervention strategies to address behavioral concerns before formal disciplinary action becomes necessary.
  • Refers students to appropriate school-based guidance, counseling, and support services as needed.
  • Assists with student suspension procedures and documentation in accordance with district policies and regulations.
  • Collaborates with students, families, teachers, and school leaders to address attendance concerns, behavioral challenges, and classroom-related issues.
  • Supports the development, coordination, and implementation of school-wide Positive Behavioral Support (PBS) initiatives and culture-building programs.
  • Monitors and supports daily school routines and procedures, including hallways, classrooms, cafeterias, transitions, and common areas, to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
  • Builds positive relationships with students and staff to reinforce expectations, promote accountability, and foster a supportive school culture.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Manager of School Culture.
Compensation
  • The starting salary for this role is $50,000
  • This role is paid on a year-round schedule, similar to teachers

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years of teaching experience.
  • Strong experience in behavioral intervention and management techniques.
  • Possesses a deep commitment to both racial and educational equity for all children
  • Passing a background check, as required by law.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Holds a valid Florida Department of Education Professional Certificate in an appropriate subject area.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing restorative practices within a school setting to support positive student behavior and accountability.
  • Prior experience working in an urban public school or charter school environment (e.g., paraprofessional, substitute teacher, ISS coordinator, or similar student support role).
  • Experience working with K–8 students, including students with diverse learning, behavioral, and developmental needs.
  • Additional relevant certifications are highly valued, including Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA), or Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), though not required.
