Job Summary
Adjunct Professor of LBS College of Arts & Sciences
General Responsibilities:
• Teaching & Instruction:
Designing, preparing, and delivering high-quality instruction in accordance with the college's curriculum and policies. This involves developing course syllabi, organizing class activities, lectures, and assignments.
• Student Support:
Providing guidance and assistance to students, assessing their progress, and offering timely feedback. Maintaining appropriate office hours or availability for consultation is also crucial.
• Assessment & Record Keeping:
Accurately evaluating student learning outcomes and maintaining precise records, including attendance and grades.
• Curriculum Development:
Collaborating with departmental colleagues to review, revise, and develop curriculum that fosters the mastery of course content.
• Professional Development:
Pursuing and engaging in professional development opportunities to integrate innovative teaching and learning practices within their discipline.
• Adherence to Policies:
Complying with all college policies and procedures, including those related to student confidentiality (FERPA).
• Participation:
Engaging in departmental or institutional meetings and committees as required.
Specific Fine Arts
Skills:
• Subject Matter Expertise:
Demonstrated mastery of the specific area(s) in which they are providing instruction, such as painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.
• Tool and Material Knowledge:
For studio art courses, this includes knowledge of relevant tools, materials, and processes.
• Historical and Theoretical Context:
The ability to communicate the historical, cultural, and theoretical contexts of the subject matter.
• Contemporary Practices:
Staying current with contemporary practices and movements within the field.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Instruction in qualified discipline
- Willingness to teach online sections of the course, if necessary
- Earned an advanced degree from an accredited university in the discipline
- Minimum of 18 graduate credits in the discipline
- Two years teaching experience
